About Us

The Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) is a major player and a global leader in the bauxite industry. Based in the Boké region, it exploits significant deposits located in Sangarédi, in the northwestern part of the Republic of Guinea. Thanks to an integrated and efficient industrial facility, CBG produces and exports more than 17 million tons of high-quality bauxite annually, destined for international aluminum markets.

The Guinean government holds a 49% stake in CBG, while the remaining 51% is held by Halco Mining, a consortium of leading international mining companies (Alcoa, Dadco, and Rio Tinto Alcan). This governance structure ensures both a strong national presence and alignment with global best practices in management, performance, and compliance.

Since the start of its operations in 1973, CBG has contributed more than US$5.5 billion to the Guinean government’s revenue, thereby affirming its strategic role in the national economy. Starting in 2016, the company has committed nearly $1 billion in investments to a vast program to modernize its infrastructure and increase its production capacity, thereby strengthening its competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

A pioneer in community development and the promotion of local content, CBG bases its actions on a philosophy of creating shared value. It applies rigorous international standards in health, safety, quality, and environmental protection, as evidenced by its certifications to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Furthermore, CBG has been certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) since 2022, recognizing the compliance of its practices with international standards for sustainability and responsibility within the aluminum value chain. This recognition reinforces its commitment to responsible, transparent operations that respect stakeholders.

Guided by values of operational excellence, integrity, respect, and well-being, CBG does not limit itself to the extraction of a strategic mineral resource. By producing high-quality bauxite essential to numerous industries—construction, transportation, energy, and technology—it actively contributes to the economic progress and sustainable development of Guinea and the world.
