Multi-User Project

At the heart of the industrial transformation of the Boké region, the Boké Railway (CFB) Multi-User Project stands out as a unique model of mining cooperation in Guinea. The result of a strategic partnership, this initiative is redefining the standards of rail transport to support sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

A historic partnership for shared infrastructure

The founding document of this partnership dates back to June 24, 2015, with the signing of the Boké Railway Multi-User Operating Agreement. This agreement binds the National Agency for Mining Infrastructure Development (ANAIM) to three major players in the sector: the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), the Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC), and the Compagnie de Bauxites de Dian-Dian (COBAD).

The project’s governance is based on a rigorous collaborative structure centered on two key bodies: the Technical Committee and the User Committee. Each signatory entity, as well as ANAIM, is represented on these committees to ensure transparent, coordinated, and balanced management of resources.

A goal of world-class capacity

Under the leadership of the CFB management, the mission is clear: to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient transport of the ores produced by partner companies. To bring this vision to life, a department dedicated to the “Multi-User Project” has been established.

The technical goal is ambitious: to significantly increase the railway’s capacity in order to reach an annual transport volume of 51 million tons of bauxite by 2020, with projections calling for 70 million tons by 2023.

Modernization and Technical Innovation

The expansion of the infrastructure is driven by several key projects:

  • Basic infrastructure: earthwork and the extension of new sections of railway track.
  • Cutting-edge technologies: deployment of a modern signaling system designed to optimize safety and the flow of rail traffic.
  • Logistical enhancements: expansion of the locomotive fleet and modernization of maintenance equipment.
  • Operational efficiency: implementation of a maintenance and operations management plan (ORP) to improve the system’s overall performance.

A catalyst for socioeconomic progress

Beyond industrial performance, the Multi-User Project makes a significant contribution to human capital development through job creation and the strengthening of local skills.

By pooling this strategic infrastructure, the CBG and its partners are also supporting the establishment of new businesses in the Boké region. This approach to resource sharing serves as a key driver of regional socioeconomic development, fostering the creation of opportunities and improving living conditions for surrounding communities.
